Ipswich School

We spent a tremendous morning with Christina at school. We were celebrating several of our children’s achievements as their poems had been especially selected for her wonderful National Poetry Competition book. Apart from being thrilled with the achievements of our pupils we were treated to the amazing stories of Veronica Fly and her friends! Christina is a fabulous story teller, musician and her different character voices are brilliant! It is super to know of a selection of rhyming and themed books that can be used within so many areas to the curriculum to help children. The CD’s which accompany the stories are a superb addition.

Mrs H. Mee. Ipswich School

Northfield Primary School, Wakefield

Thank you so much Christina. We loved having you in our school for World Book Day. You were absolutely fabulous with the children and I know they all thoroughly enjoyed it. Your stories about Felicity Fly and her friends were fantastic and we were all very entertained with the fantastic accents you added to the characters as you read them. Your passion and enthusiasm as an author is inspirational, and many of the children in Year 6 have been writing poems and stories of their own. We hope to share some of them with you.

Rachael Gundill - Northfield Primary School, Wakefield

Sacred Heart Primary School, Leeds

I wanted to say thank you for the day that you spent with us in Year 3, the children really enjoyed the day. Your enthusiasm and use of accents really inspired their writing and illustrations, and the work they produced was of a high standard as a result.

Mary Togher  - Sacred Heart Primary School, Leeds

Bankside Primary School, Leeds

Thank you so much Christina for an absolutely amazing two days. The children loved your stories about Felicity Fly and were mesmerised by your different accents. They were enthralled with the stories and some wished that you could have stayed with them longer. A very busy afternoon with year 6 produced some fantastic starts to budding poets. Thank you once again for visiting.

Sam Coolican - Bankside Primary School, Leeds.

Wakefield Girls School

Thank you very much for visiting school yesterday to help us celebrate National Poetry Day.  The poetry workshops were very successful as you inspired Year 5 to write some very good rhyming poetry and the girls were extremely proud to share their work with you. Year 3 had fun listening to your Felicity Fly stories and liked your voices that brought the characters alive. They loved participating in the stories too.

The Y6 and Y7 girls whose poetry is featured in your book An Invitation that Captured the Primary School Nation were very excited to meet you and you gave them encouragement to continue to write.

Angela Wimbush - Deputy Head, Wakefield Girls School

Hessle Mount School, Hull

Thank you so much Christina for a thoroughly entertaining afternoon. The children here at Hessle Mount loved your stories about Felicity Fly and her friends; having the stories read aloud with her amazing accents had the children enthralled. We enjoyed hearing about how your ideas to write materialised and learnt about your determination and dedication to getting your ideas published. The children have been inspired to put pencil to paper and are presently writing their own poems about friendship and teamwork.

Sarah Cutting - Hessle Mount School , Hull

Pennthorpe School, West Sussex

We had the pleasure of welcoming Christina Gabbitas, author of the Felicity Fly series and coordinator of the national Eight Line Rhyme competition, to our school.

Christina spent the afternoon in the lower school and her story telling transported the children into the wonderful world of Felicity Fly and her friends. The children were enchanted by the fantastic accents Christina adopted for each of her characters and all were inspired and enthused.

Christina also took the opportunity to present Rosie Kerven with her trophy for winning the Eight Line Rhyme competition.

Silcoates Primary, Wakefield

The highlight of the day was taking part in a workshop led by the visiting author Christina Gabbitas. The children were transported into the wonderful world of Felicity Fly and her friends, as we were privileged to listen to Christina read her stories. All of the children went to great lengths (along with the staff!) to dress suitably for the occasion and an army of colourful bugs could be seen around school!

Louise Leach - Silcoates Primary

Monk Fryston Primary School

The children had a fantastic morning listening to Christina's Felicity Fly stories. They were enchanted by the fantastic accents that Christina adopted for each of the characters and they thoroughly enjoyed learning the Felicity Fly song. The children have been inspired by Christina's visit with many of them now wanting to become authors themselves! Thanks again for the visit.

Laura Otter - Monk Fryston Primary School

Endsleigh Primary School

I would like to thank you for inviting us for such an inspirational session. It was pitched for younger children, but Christina was able to make it accessible, even for Y6! The Q&A session at the end was particularly beneficial as she made it clear to children that they all have talents; it may take a while to work out what they want to do.
A very successful experience.
Thank you once again,

Jane Butifant, Assistant Head, Endsleigh Primary School
